Having been a major success for the last four years, those who have visited the Air Assault festival in the past will be delighted to know that the next installment of this widely-acclaimed virtual air show is going to be held in 2015. This event has drawn in large crowds in the past from all over the place and if you love to watch aviation and see the event itself can aspire to – and inspire with – then you need to book you spot this year, because it promise to be even bigger than it’s been before!

Air Assault 2015

What is Air Assault?

This virtual air show is one of the biggest of its kind, offering a huge range of different flight simulation displays from all levels, talents and nations. It’s a competition with a massive amount of support across the board. With sponsorships and freeware groups all offering their services to make sure that Air Assault 2015 can be the most productive and enjoyable yet for everyone who has decided to come along. The festival itself will take place over a full weekend and provide fans of the series with a massive change to see something really unique within simulation unfold in front of them!

Some of the biggest and best names within the virtual display teams using FSX will be coming along to dazzle fans and show them just how it’s done. This creates a massive industry in itself, ensuring that people can really get the help that they need in becoming far more in tune with what a flight simulator can be used for – it’s not just for simple flights to airport A and airport B, not anymore! The air show is going to be bringing some of the best acts around, so make sure you clear your calendar for this!

The entire event is welcome and open to all, ensuring that anybody who wants to come along can do so and find out all the information that they need along the way. This is a flight enthusiasts dream, making it very easy for you to get everything put into one place and to maximize the level of realism and performance. Using the best and most effective live streaming equipment possible this year, the Air Assault feed looks set to be as clear and as comfortable as ever so that you can get the best view of all the events taking place.

Display teams are welcome to come along, as well as solo acts, so if you just want to come along and showcase your skills to a wide range of clients then this can easily be achieved. This is an event that allows anyone to compete so long as they follow the rules and act like adults – arrivals day and massive group flights will be on the 9th October so you need to make sure that you have given yourself enough time to prepare and get to grips with the rules, if you do wish to take part in the event itself.

Why Air Assault 2015?

Aside from having the best pilots, the best skills, the most enjoyable atmosphere and the best location for any flight simulation event out there? Well, the Air Assault 2015 package also brings a very strong emotional appeal to things. This year, the group is proud to be represented the story and the battle of Rosie Davies. Rosie is an inspiring story of the funds needed to help provide long-term care for Rosie, who was born with a rare condition known as Caudal Regression Syndrome. She is one of just three people in the world to undergo a surgical operation which amputated her lefts just below the knee. Although this has limited her mobility even further, Rosie still has no problem in getting around the place!

This year, the event wishes to raise awareness for Rosie so that she can get the kind of treatment and care she needs; the surgery saved her life by filling in the gap in her spine caused by her condition, but she still needs support to help live a happy and healthy life. If you are interested in taking part in the donations for the foundation, you can do so with ease.

You only need to check out the Air Assault website and you will find all the links that you need to make an  investment for Rosie and to help give her the kind of life that she deserves, having already been through such a difficult and trying time – you can check that link out here.

Where is the Air Assault 2015 Event Going to Be Held?

The event itself is obviously held online so you can watch it from the comfort of your own home, but for anyone who intends to be participating you need to know where you will be expected to turn up! The event itself is going to be held at the Duxfor Imperial War Museum, EGSU. This makes it a lot easier for competitors to get used to the scenery and the area that you will be flying around in so it’s important that you get used to this as soon as you can if you intend on entering the event.

However, the team will be using a very specific scenery package for the highest level of realism possible throughout the event. This means that you will need to get to grips with the Airfield Construction Group package that provides access to a really user-friendly remake of the airfield. This has been chosen due to the high level of detail as well as the frame rate and level of detail that is allowed within the reconstruction without hampering the aircraft in any way; this makes a massive difference to the flight, so if you intend to get involved you need to download this package.

There will be an announcement closer to the time about where the FSX Classic server will be set up – however, FSX Steam Edition severs may be set up at a later date, according to the main website. Keep an eye out on here for further details about this, as it’s subject to change at any point and will obviously determine how you will be joining.

How Can The Scenery Package Needed Be Downloaded?

As mentioned above, all who participate within the event will need to be using the specific Airfield Construction Group package. To get this package, you will need to go to the Airfield Construction Group website and download it directly – aside from being hugely detailed and easy to use, this includes all of the realistic touches that are need to make the Air Assault event so much more enjoyable for everyone who is watching on.

Air Assault and the Airfield Construction Group are in joint partnership within the event to provide the most stunning scenery possible, so you can find out more information regarding this on-going partnership on the official Air Assault 2015 website, and at the Airfield Construction Groups official page.

I Need To Come in From Elsewhere During The Event – Is This Possible?

Given the fact that the event is set up for display teams to show their very best sills and let the world know just how good they are, it’s very important that the event can be set up in the most user-friendly manner possible and let people approach the flight as they feel most comfortable in doing. This takes time and patience to plan out, though, and will usually require a lot of hard work to get it looking good and feeling right – the Air Assault group has made provisions for this and you can download a specific information sheet about the airfield that is being used.

This also provides alternative information that will allow those who need more space and time to make their entrance to do so without being hampered by the airfield that is being used. If you are interested in finding out more about making this change and giving yourself the way forward in terms of arriving in your group – or as a solo flyer – then you should check out the official Air Assault information sheet, which is here.

Are There Flight Boundaries During The Event?

To ensure integrity and fairness, a strict boundary has been set for the show so that everyone can stay within the fair sights of the cameras and to ensure that everything can be captured for the full spectacle of the viewers. The Air Assault team have created a while range of details about how to put this all together, and this can be done fairly simply just by using the information sheet provided above. This will give you all the information that you need about setting up the process and making sure you know what is within the boundaries of the aircraft.

These boundaries are set in stone so you will not see any deviation from the original pans between now and the start of the event in October – so, you can get practicing within the boundaries starting today in full comfort!

Is This For Professionals, Only?

Although the Air Assault 2015 roster is full of some of the biggest names out there at the moment within virtual flight simulation, you will find that the difference with Air Assault 2015 and other flight shows is that there’s no minimum level. Anyone can turn up here and put in a performance; they just need to stick to the rules and be courteous about the other people who are taking part at the same time. If you can find the time to get used to the Air Assault rules and have the belief that you could entertain some people, you should enter.

There is no elitism at this event – it’s made for people who want to enjoy themselves and who wish to appreciate their own skills as well as the skills of others. There is nothing here that is expected of anyone apart from etiquette – Air Assault takes professionalism and skill very seriously, but it also takes the importance of taking part and being inclusive to all even more seriously, so you have nothing to worry about regarding needed skill levels of potentially bringing down the “level” of the tournament – just do what you feel comfortable taking part in!

How Can Air Assault 2015 Be Watched?

The air show itself will be held in October, and as the time comes closer there will be an opportunity for server details to be released. At the moment, the plan is to make sure that all performers only will be allowed on the actual server to maintain server integrity and to limit the chances of performances being hindered or lag from developing. This means that everyone else will be given access to a direct Twitch TV stream that it will watch on instead. This should make it much easier for everyone to watch without hampering the overall quality of the flying that is going to be on display during the event itself.

Again, this information will be released closer to the time so be sure to check back for further details when they are provided to us.
