Across Alaska’s interior

From the northern Alaska Range across Fairbanks and the Yukon basin to Brooks Range country, this sheet cuts through a substantial part of central Alaska. It crosses the Arctic Circle and brings together broad river lowlands, boreal interior, rolling uplands and increasingly rugged terrain to the north and south. The western reach approaches the Norton Sound hinterland, while the eastern side remains within Alaska’s upper Yukon country.

Connections around the sheet

Routes continuing east pass onto the Dawson sheet. Anchorage adjoins to the south-east and McGrath to the south-west, covering onward travel around the Alaska Range and adjacent interior. The western edge meets Bethel, Nome and Cape Lisburne at different points, reflecting the sheet layout across western Alaska, while Point Barrow connects at the north-east. These neighbours make the Fairbanks sheet a central link between south-central Alaska, the western interior and routes extending towards the Arctic.

Common questions

What area does the Fairbanks Sectional Chart cover?

It spans 63.4°N to 68.3°N and 160.7°W to 143.7°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Alaska. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (74.6 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (156.8 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Fairbanks chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Which charts adjoin the Fairbanks sheet?

Nome to the west, Dawson to the east, Point Barrow to the north-east, McGrath to the south-west, Anchorage to the south-east and Cape Lisburne to the west. Each is linked from this page, so a route running off one edge can be continued on the next sheet.

Is the Fairbanks Sectional Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
