LOMAC goes Gold!

For all us combat flight simulator fans, today is a big day indeed, and one we've been waiting for a long time. Lock On: Modern Air Combat, one of the most highly anticipated sims of all time, has finally gone gold. The announcement was made yesterday by Matt Wanger, the producer of LOMAC, on the UbiSoft forums. This is great news, and enough warning for all you fighter jocks to run out and pick up the latest sticks to fly this puppy with.

Going gold is a term used for the time when a piece of software reaches the phase in development known as the golden master. The golden master comes after alpha and beta testing, and is generally considered a release candidate, pending some final testing. Once a piece of software enters the golden master phase, it could be released in a matter of weeks. In other words, Lock On: Modern Air Combat is expected to be released very soon.

The game takes place in a virtual world that was created to be similar to the Black Sea region. The world is extensively detailed, with towns, cities, trees, bridges, airfields and more all fully detailed and modeled in 3D. If you are a fan of combat flight simulators, you will love the variety available in the missions in Lock On: Modern Air Combat.

In the course of playing the game, you will find yourself taking off and landing from aircraft carriers and even engaging in mid air refueling operations. This sort of flexibility in operation and style has not been available in a modern air combat flight simulator until now, so make sure to take advantage of the wide variety of missions available.

There are eight planes that can be flown by the player, from a variety of different countries. One of the most exciting features of the game is a fully operational mission editor, allowing you to create your own missions and campaigns and share them with the community online. When a game has a feature like this, it means it will be interesting to play for years to come due to the added support of the modding community online.

Whether you are a combat flight simulator buff or looking to take your first steps into the genre, Lock On: Modern Air Combat is a great investment that will provide hours of entertainment for you.
