Western Caribbean coverage

From the Yucatán Peninsula and Central American coast to Hispaniola, this sheet brings the western Caribbean’s main island groups and surrounding waters into one view. Coverage includes Cuba, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, much of the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos area, and the shores of Belize and Honduras. Its northern reach takes in the Straits of Florida, while the southern edge approaches the western Caribbean coast near the Honduras–Nicaragua border.

Flying character

The region combines long overwater sectors with sharp contrasts in landform. Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola present substantial mountainous interiors, while the Bahamas, Cayman Islands and parts of the Yucatán are markedly lower and flatter. Narrow passages, scattered islands and extended coastlines make the sheet particularly useful for planning routes that move repeatedly between open water and land. Coverage continues eastwards on Caribbean 2, making the adjoining sheet relevant for journeys beyond Hispaniola and the eastern edge of this chart.

Common questions

What area does the Caribbean 1 Caribbean Chart cover?

It spans 14.8°N to 27.5°N and 87.0°W to 71.7°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Florida. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (36.6 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (76.9 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Caribbean 1 chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Which charts adjoin the Caribbean 1 sheet?

Caribbean 2 to the east. Each is linked from this page, so a route running off one edge can be continued on the next sheet.

Is the Caribbean 1 Caribbean Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
