Coverage across the Delaware Valley

Philadelphia anchors a sheet reaching from Lancaster country and the lower Lehigh Valley across central and southern New Jersey to the Atlantic. To the south it includes northern Delaware, much of Delaware Bay and Maryland’s upper Eastern Shore. This brings together dense development along the Delaware River, rolling eastern Pennsylvania uplands, the flatter coastal plain of New Jersey and Delmarva, and prominent bay and shoreline geography.

Connections at the chart edges

The New York Terminal Area Chart adjoins to the north-east, continuing coverage beyond north-eastern New Jersey towards the New York metropolitan area. The Baltimore-Washington sheet lies to the west, supporting routes that continue beyond the Lancaster side or turn south-west towards Maryland. At approximately 118 by 99 nautical miles, the Philadelphia sheet accommodates substantial Delaware Valley routes on one view, while longer journeys through the north-east corridor may require an adjoining chart.

Common questions

What area does the Philadelphia Terminal Area Chart cover?

It spans 39.0°N to 40.6°N and 76.4°W to 73.9°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (17.9 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (37.0 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Philadelphia chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Which charts adjoin the Philadelphia sheet?

New York to the north-east and Baltimore-Washington to the west. Each is linked from this page, so a route running off one edge can be continued on the next sheet.

Is the Philadelphia Terminal Area Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
